VIPtel Mobile Customers – Beware of Scams

VIPtel Mobile shoppers need to watch out for telephone calls scam offering money back in return for payment of a charge. Conmen may claim to be from Centrelink and will ask for the charge to be paid by wire transfer.

The way in which the scam works : You receive a telephone call out of the blue from a scammer making a claim to be from either Centrelink, a ‘consulting company’, a vague govt. dept, or a barrister, who state they have accessibility to buyer repayments from VIPtel Mobile. The scammer will counsel you you’re entitled to have a refund, saying it’s the result of court action. The ACCC has taken several court actions against EDirect Pty Limited , which at the time traded as VIPtel Mobile.
