Theft, fraud or scam whatever may be the name these are the ones which leave us with loss when met. These exist everywhere so, be careful. We need to have some awareness regarding how these were happening and how can we avoid them.

Here are some tips for you all to avoid such scams.

1. Avoid responding to the unknown sender’s message or call asking for your contact information or financial information.
2. Be careful while creating your password. Avoid anything that can be easily discovered by the thieves. Better to use combined letters and numbers as your passwords. Ask for little more assistance from your financial institutions in providing protection for your account.
3. Avoid storing your passwords or other account information in your wallets. It is easy for a criminal to rob your wallet and get all the information. Store all the password information and other important information in a secure place.
4. While taking a loan get all the details regarding the payment, interest and other policies like PPI. If they are legal they will provide us with every information about the loan and how to reclaim and claim back PPI. And moreover they don’t ask us to pay any amount in advance in order to get the loan.
5. When your credit or debit card was stolen, immediately inform it to the card provider about the loss. This not only prevents fraudulent charges but also helps to notify if your card is used again.
6. When shopping online make sure that you have logged off completely after your online transactions.
7. When you have some doubt with the authenticity of the email message from the company you are doing business with better avoid clicking on the link. Instead, type the URL of the company into the address bar and proceed.
8. If you have posted some products for online auction then don’t accept overpayment. They will send the check and they will ask you to pay the difference back through wire. Later on the check may bounce and you may loss the money you wired. So avoid such things.
9. Sometimes you will get emails and messages that you won the lottery and to receive the prize amount you need to pay some amount. Avoid such mails as you never need to pay anything to collect your winnings.
10. Check out your credit report regularly. Ask your providers to send you your weekly report and an alert if any significant change has happened. Respond quickly to those alerts so that you can check and have peace of mind if everything is fine.

My 4 month old laptop froze up. I thought I was calling Norton support, and they represented themselves as such. They are not. They did fix what I found out later was not a virus but simply an installation problem (from the REAL Norton support people). pccare siad I had been hacked and showed me several hundred viruses and such and said they would install programs to fix problem. What they did was install two free internet anti-virus programs that made Norton antivirus inoperable. I had to call Norton and have them uninstall Norton, then reinstall it. Gosh, only took about an hour and a half of my day.

Anyway, I agreed to pay them at the time $100.00. this was to cover their work that day and a year’s subscription. I gave them the credit card info then and thought I was done with them. silly me. I get a phone call yesterday- 6 months later- and they want $249.00. First they said that my check was refused at the banl. I never pay on the internet by check. Then they said my credit card company refused the charge.

I kept inquiring about this because I knew I NEVER agreed to pay anyone $249 for ANY computer repair of any kind, and why on earth would my credit card company have denied any charge. I ws never informed of any such denial. Finally they said their payment server went down and they saw that they had not been paid. I said they weren’t going to get paid $249. I had agreed to pay $100 way back when, and my credit card had been used right after that for unauthorized charges of over $3000 dollars.

at this juncture what came on my screen was the name of an entity

did end up resolving my issue on hand. The techie on the other hand
immediately knew there was a problem with the spooler and suggested

problem. However, via this review I do not intend to recommend

Loan Agent Paul Wieber for a 7500 USD personal Loan on 4/10/2012.
They required a 826.00 USD “Security Deposit”. I was asked to wire
this amount to an individual named Patrick Jones in Maple, Ontario,
Canada via Western Union on 4/15/2012.

I gave them copies of my SSN and Driver License, Bank ABA and Bank
Account Number.

They required an 1153.00 USD Loan Insurance Policy, from Insurance
Adjuster David Murray. I wired another 650.00 USD. I wired 650.00 USD
to “Paul” Jones (I made a mistake on the name, should have been
Patrick Jones again and they were still able to pick up the money on
4/16/2012.

The following day another man called wanting me to wire another 680.00
USD for taxes on the loan. I refused to comply as I now knew this was
a fraudulent company. One person told me on 4/17/2012 that a refund
would be made in 14 to 30 days. A second person told me it would take
14 to 65 days. I knew I would never see a refund.

Now they refuse to answer the phone and voice mail that I leave.

I have contacted Local Police, IC3.gov, Western Union, Federal Trade
Commission, Federal Communications Commission, and Anti Fraud Center
in Canada, Electronic Fraud Task Team / CIA, Secret Service, Minnesota
Attorney General, Department of Commerce, National Fraud Center,
Interpol, Ripoff Report.Com, FBI, and my local phone company, Better
Business Bureau, National Consumers League, Merchantcircle.com,
ask.com, superpages.com, Experian, Trans Union, Equifax and my Bank.

The response from these agencies is as if no one is willing to take
the report and act on apprehending or locating these individuals.

received a text mail to go to the site as an instant 1,000 WalMart gift card winner i went on line to site and found the scam warning on the list of sites to select

The web page stated above sent text message saying I won a 1,000.00 walmart gift card,and that I should go on the web site to claim my prize.

64 counts of burglary have been brought against Maria Elena Escarsega, Elvia Romero, Christopher Barcellos, Maria Dolores de Escarsega and Joaquin Murrieta.

Police say the suspects got about $25,000 in cash and merchandise using those fraudulent coupons.

During the investigation, detectives found $9600 in cash and merchandise at one suspects home.

The Better Business Bureau issued an important scam alert Thursday, cautioning enterprises and buyers about an email that looks like it is from BBB, with the topic line “Complaint from your customers.” The email is fake, Better Business officers expounded. They suggested PC users to pay no mind to its contents and remove it straight away. For those that have clicked on a link in the email, the bureau recommends them to run a full pathogen scan.

The emails have return addresses that BBB doesn’t use and it’s signed with the address of the Council of Better Business Companies , the nation’s office of the BBB system. The email contains a link to a non-BBB internet site. BBB is working with law enforcement to figure out its source and stop the fake campaign.
